NSS UNIT 009

National Service Scheme unit of SMS (CUSAT NSS UNIT 9) is a unit of excellence, packed with activities, brimming with energy and resonating with vibrancy. Through a slew of programmes and initiatives, the unit truly upheld the envisaged objectives and mission of the National service scheme. The selfless service of NSS volunteers touched every aspects of social life - Environment protection, women empowerment, educational and awareness drives, preservation of culture and heritage, caring and sharing of needy, upliftment of downtrodden, providing vital infrastructure and other social services aimed at catering the welfare society through improving the quality of life and enabling the members of the society to lead a life of dignity.

NSS Special Camp

Date: 18th March 2022-Day 1
The first day of NSS camp DHIKSHA'22 was started on 18th march 2022 at open air auditorium with NSS song sung by one of the NSS volunteer, Prathyush. The NSS camp embarked with a welcome speech by one of the NSS Volunteer CillahReji Samuel, Unit 09. This was continued with Cancer Awareness Program delivered by Dr Ashok Komaranchath followed by interaction between cancer survivors DrLissy from Lakshore, Dr. Manu Melwin Joy, SMS CUSAT and Ms. Sherya S Menon, Research Scholar, DOE CUSAT. Finally, the vote of thanks for the program was given by Ashna Teresa Augustin, NSS Volunteer.

NSS Special Camp

Date: 19th March 2022-Day 2
The second day of NSS camp DHIKSHA’22 was an outreach activity of canal cleaning in Thrikkakara Ward 28 of the Periyar Valley Irrigation Project, and the cleaning session ended at 1.30 PM. After the lunch break, at 2.30 a fire and safety class at Thrikkakara Fire Station was conducted. After the fire and safety class we returned to campus at 4.00 PM.

NSS Special Camp

Date: 20th March 2022-Day 2
The Third day of NSS camp DHIKSHA’22 was started at 9:30am on 20th march 2022 at school of legal studies Cusat with CPR training session conducted by the nursing officer NibuRamakrishnan from rajagiri hospital Aluva . The programme started with a welcome speech by one of the NSS volunteer. Session ended at 11:30 AM and everyone had a Hand on training session in first aid treatment. After the CPR training session the next session started after a short tea break at department of electronics, Cusat . Training session was conducted by Sharon Ann Thomas in leadership training. After the lunch break, at 2:00 PM in DOE Cusat everyone has assembled for the final training session in personality by DrJithin Benedict, who is a professional trainer of govt of India project on rural development (MGNCRE) . After the training session, the cultural program was conducted between 3 to 5pm.

NSS Special Camp

Date: 21th March 2022-Day 3
The Last Day of NSS CAMP DHIKSHA’22 was on 21st March 2022. The girls had a self-defence class handled by Sone Mary Paul& team (Sub Inspector of Police, Women Cell Kochi) in the open air auditorium CUSAT at 3:00 PM and boys had a cleaning activity at DOE CUSAT at 4:00 PM

Women’s Day celebration with KMRL

Date: 15th March 2022
NSS UNIT 009 has conducted a flash mob and street play with the aim of empowering women as a part of women’s day celebration in collaboration with Kochi metro.

Women’s Day celebrations

Date: 8th March 2022
The celebration programme started with honouring esteemed women from the society and through the colourful cultural performances of professionals and volunteers t Durbar Hall ground on 8th March 2022.

Science Day Celebration

Date: 28th February 2022
NSS UNIT 009 has conducted a flash mob and street play with the aim of empowering women as a part of women’s day celebration in collaboration with Kochi metro.

Poster Making Competition – to commemorate Science Day

The competition was held in online mode and the submissions were taken in both soft copies and hard copies regarding the theme of science day.
