Cinephilia, the cinema club is a group of SMS Movie enthusiasts who get together to watch, analyze, review and discuss films from around the world. The club has a very active WhatsApp group where senior and junior students interact about their favorite movies, scenes, songs, new releases of movies, etc. Since it is a newly launched club during pandemic times, the club is planning to organize workshops, movie-making events, debates, movie festivals, and movie quizzes in the coming future.

Cinema is an art form that deserves to be celebrated, together let’s celebrate cinema.

The first-year core members of the club were selected by senior core members through a movie debate competition done among the first-year students.

Recent activities:

FEB 14, 2022  As a part of valentine’s day celebrations, the club conducted its first 2 competitions which were titled as "Vasumathikkoru premalekhanam" (letter writing competition) and "Love Action Drama” (the reel making competition). The response the club received for the same was extremely overwhelming and all the entries by the participants were Amazing and creative which made it very difficult for the club to choose the winners. Finally, the club members cast their votes for each competition and they got the winners. The winner for Vasumathikkoru premalekhanam was Indrajith K.P and for Love Action Drama the winner was Arya S Vijay. Also, the top 3 reels for Love Action Drama were posted on the official Instagram page of Cinephilia.

Listin Stephen on ‘Business Behind Camera’

The brand-new “Business Behind Camera” movie club of the School of Management Studies, CUSAT, conducted its first meeting at the Seminar Complex. The eager SMS movie buffs welcomed Mr. Listin Stephen, the well-known film producer and distributor, to an engaging conversation. As the club’s name implies, the students  gained  an understanding of the business side of the film industry as well as a general sense of the opportunities and difficulties that business aspirants will face. It was indeed a fruitful and significant discussion.
