A session on Personal and Corporate etiquette was delivered for the students on January 12th, 2022. The resource person was Ms.Vishma Vivek, Global head–Talent Acquisition, Litmus7. In this very interactive session, she dwelt on the importance of personal grooming, verbal and non – verbal communication and the like in the corporate world through explicit examples.
Mr.Gopakumar, Chief Operating Officer-Bhima Jewellers shared some wonderful insights on ‘Retail is Detail’ in an interactive session with students on 2nd November 2021. He spoke extensively about the various practical dimensions of modern-day retailing, while also inspiring students to pursue careers in the growing domain.
A project called “Oppam” - a gamification initiative for creating HIV AIDS awareness- was organised as part of the CSR initiative of SMS, CUSAT in commemorating World AIDS Day on December 1st, 2021. The programme was carried out in association with Kerala State AIDS Control Society (KSACS) and was supported by Aster Medcity.
An event ‘ Ayushman Bhava’ was hosted as part of the CSR initiatives of SMS, CUSAT with the support of Aster Medcity. This programme that uses Gamification for Basic Life Support Awareness was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) P G Shankaran (Honourable Pro Vice Chancellor, CUSAT) at the Hall of Fame, School of Management Studies, CUSAT in March 2022.
Shri C K Podder, HR consulant, corporate trainer and faculty of IISWBM, Kolkata, engaged the students of SMS,CUSAT on a lecture on the topic, Honing leadership skills. He spoke on the leadership crisis the new world is facing and the need to be better humans to emerge as great leaders. Citing examples of world leaders and anecdotes from the corporate world, he stressed the importance of effective and influential leadership.
The students and research scholars of SMS were sensitised into the intricacies of cross cultural communication and integration through a lecture on ' Developing Intercultural competencies' delivered by Prof Sylvie Chevrier, Professor of Management, Gustave Eiffel University, France. The two hour interactive session was replete with discussions of various scenarios, do's and dont's in multicultural settings and possibilities for international students for Ph.D. programmes in France.
