Dr. Sam Thomas is Professor and Director of the School of Management Studies at Cochin
University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). He also serves as the Dean of Commerce
and Management Studies at the University of Calicut and as Director of the Internal Quality
Assurance Cell (IQAC) at CUSAT.
Dr. Sam Thomas holds a degree in Engineering from NIT Calicut, an MBA from the Indian
Institute of Management, Bangalore, and a PhD in Project Management. His research and
consulting interests span Project Management, Entrepreneurship, Data Analysis and
Accreditation & Ranking in Higher Education.
With over 25 years of academic experience and seven years in the IT industry, he has
published more than 50 research papers in leading journals and presented his work at
international conferences. He has also designed and delivered training and consulting
programs on Project Management for organizations such as Bank Muscat, NEC Japan,
Cochin Shipyard, KSFE Ltd., and CIASL.
He has held visiting international scholar positions at Western Michigan University (USA),
James Cook University (Australia), and Assumption University (Thailand). He is an active
member of the Board of Governors and academic bodies of several universities and colleges
