National Sensitisation Workshop on Gender Budgeting in Higher Education Institutions

A three-day National Workshop on Gender Budgeting in Higher Education Institutions was held from 8th, 9th and 10th January 2025.  The workshop was hosted by School of Management Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology out of the funding ‘Gender Grants 2024’ of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, UK to Dr. Sangeetha K Prathap, Associate Professor.   

 

The workshop on gender budgeting in higher education institutions was organised as a pioneering effort to address the critical areas like i) equipping HEI administrators and policy makers with the knowledge and tools to understand gender budgeting principles, ii) training participants on how to link financial allocations with performance metrics that promote gender equality in education, iii) encouraging the adoption of gender-responsive budgeting practices, iv) discussing innovative approaches to foster gender equality) highlighting how gender budgeting supports the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by ensuring more equitable resource distribution, all with specific focus on implementation at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).

Prof. Mini Sukumar, Member, Kerala State Planning board, Thiruvananthapuram inaugurated the national workshop and delivered the inaugural address.  

FDP on Marketing Analytics

The School hosted a 3 days Online FDP on an area of great relevance - Marketing Analytics with over 55 participants from various parts of the country in attendance. The FDPs thrust areas included the use of analytic tools in marketing based on the First Principles approach. The highlight of the programme was that the sessions were jointly handled by experts from industry and academia.


FDP On Business Simulations

A 5-day FDP on 'Using Simulations in Management Teaching' organised jointly by CESIM, Finland - a global leader in Business Simulation training and School of Management Studies, CUSAT was inaugurated by Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) P.G. Sankaran on 26th August 2022. What followed was a resourceful series of exercises in business simulation cutting across the various domains of Management- Strategic Management, Project Management, Marketing Management and General Management to name a few. The workshop concluded on 31st August 2022 with closing comments and remarks of appreciation from SMS director, Dr. Jagathyraj V.P.

MDP on HR Analytics

School of Management Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology organized a two-day management development program on ‘HR Analytics’ in February 2019. CUSAT Vice-chancellor R. Sasidharan inaugurated the two-day management development program. More than 30 delegates including industry executives from diverse sectors and faculty members from Business schools across India participated in the program. The topics covered in the MDP included the LAMP framework, HR analytics maturity model, and descriptive and predictive analytics. Case studies and hands-on sessions were part of the MDP.

Five-Day National Workshop Conducted

A five-day National Workshop on ‘Applications of Econometric Tools for Research’ was conducted by the School of Management Studies, CUSAT in November 2017. With econometric tools being extensively used in analysing stock price behaviour as well as developing and estimating sophisticated pricing models and bearing applications in several other areas, the workshop was conducted with a primary objective of developing a better understanding of Econometrics applications in contemporary research.

Two-Day National Conference

SMS, CUSAT hosted a two-day National Conference on ‘New Paradigms in Business and Management (NCNPBM-2017)’ at the School of Management Studies in April 2017. The conference offered attendees a platform for intellectual deliberations on the new paradigms in the field of business and management. The conference submissions in the form of research papers have been wrapped up in two edited books with ISBN and in a Conference Proceedings volume for disseminating the nature and results of the deliberations in the Conference.

MDP on Gamification Conducted

An three day MDP on Gamification for Learning and Development was conducted in CUSAT and inaugurated by Prof. Dr. R Sasidharan (Vice Chancellor, CUSAT) on 28/11/2018 . Mr. Nagarajan Anandan - Tata Ceramics Ltd., Kochi (Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary) was the chief guest of the event. The resource person, Dr. Manu Melwin Joy is a gamification expert who is part of initiatives like Project Guru for training 1000 VHSE teachers and Project Acharya for training 1000 Principals for APKOS (Association for Principals of Kerala Oriented Schools).
