STUDENTS WIN AT KUFOS MANAGEMENT FEST

At EVOQUE, the prestigious management fest organized by KUFOS, Kerala, students from the School of Management Studies delivered an excellent performance. The SMS team secured the 1st prize in the Finance Game, showcasing their strategic and analytical prowess. We also went on to win the 2nd prize in the Marketing Game, reflecting both versatility and strong grasp of marketing concepts. Their achievements added another feather to the cap of SMS at this prominent intercollegiate platform.

SCHOOL EXCELS AT UNIVERSITY ARTS FEST

The students of the School of Management Studies delivered a remarkable performance at Sargam 2025, the university-level arts festival of CUSAT, securing several accolades across diverse events. The school won prizes across the board from Tamil elocution and Tamil poetry, English debate, string western competition, to skit, folk dance, western group song, spot photography and mime. Aavani (FT 2023-25) was crowned Sargam Ms. CUSAT 2025, a proud moment for the department. Capping off this impressive list of achievements, the zone that includes the School of Management Studies secured the 2nd overall position in Sargam 2025, reinforcing a truly memorable and successful participation.

SMS SCHOLARS EXCEL IN UGC-NET DECEMBER 2024 CYCLE

February brings a wave of celebration to the School of Management Studies as 24 students from MBA Batches triumphed in the December 2024 cycle of the University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET). Nihma Hanoon leads the pack, qualifying with the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), while Aadithya Vurgese, Abhijith K S, Abhishek R S, Akhil Albert, Aravind B Menon, Mohamed Yasir, Swathi Krishna, and Bichu C Abraham secured eligibility for both Assistant Professor roles and PhD programs.

UNBOXED NATIONAL KICKBOXING CHAMPIONSHIP

Safwan KS (2022-25 MBA batch) won the Gold Medal in the Heavyweight Category at the 2025UIC National Kickboxing Championship, held at Calicut Indoor Stadium in February, 2025.This prestigious event showcased top fighters, exhibiting skill and power in pursuit of ultimate glory.

SMS WINS AT XLENCIA 2025

Our students exhibited leadership skills, competitive spirit, and exceptional talent at XLENCIA 2025, the prestigious management fest of Bharata Mata Institute of Management, securing the First Runner-Up title, including the Best Manager award by Leeon Baby (MBA FT 2024-26).

INTERCOLLEGIATE DEBATE COMPETITION AT CUSAT

The School of Management Studies (SMS), CUSAT, hosted an Intercollegiate Debate Competition in Feb 2025, bringing together talented debaters from various institutions. Participants engaged in insightful discussions on contemporary socio-economic and business topics, showcasing exceptional analytical and communication skills. After intense rounds, the team of Ananth Ram P, Roshin Sleeba C, and Jithin S emerged as winners.

CUSAT CHAMPS SET THE QUIZZING ARENA ON FIRE

February was a triumphant month for Bichu C. Abraham from the School of Management Studies and Mohammed Ameen from the Department of Computer Applications, as this powerhouse duo notched up an incredible triple win. They first stormed the TMA-ESAF Business 2025 competition, securing a ₹50,000 cash prize then showcased their quiz mastery again by clinching first place at the Business Quiz hosted by St. Mary’s College, Thrissur. Their winning streak peaked at the Kerala State Students’ Energy Congress 2025, where they emerged as state-level champions in the Energy Management Quiz Competition.

BUSINESS QUIZ WINNERS AT WINGS 6TH EDITION ACADEMIC CONCLAVE

Gayathri S Ajith (MBA FT 2024-26) and Bejoy Jayarson (MBA FT 2023-25) secured the 1st Prize and Sirajudheen K H and Joel Johnson (MBA FT 2024-26) secured the 2nd Prize in the Business Quiz at the Wings 6th Edition Academic Conclave-2025 hosted by the PMI Kerala Chapter.

SMS BAGS HONOURS AT SOUTH ZONE YOUTH FESTIVAL

The 38th South Zone Youth Festival, SRM Sigaram, organized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) from December 26–30, 2024, celebrated creativity, culture, and collaboration. Featuring dance, music, drama, and literary events, it fostered leadership and artistic expression. Nada Ayisha (2023-25 batch) won third prize in both elocution and debate, placing the school on a pedestal.

A proud moment for SMS CUSAT, as Bichu C.Abraham (FT 2024-26) secured the First prize in the Business Quiz, organised by St Joseph’s College, Devagiri, Calicut as part of their Nirvana Management Fest.

PRIZES WON AT RAJAGIRI FEST (INFLORE 2024)
SMS won prizes galore at Inflore, Rajagiri College’s Management Fest. Aavani Vinod, Gourishankar R, Prithviraj Ranjith, and Meenakshi M K (MBA FT Batch 2023-25) secured the 2nd Prize in the Marketing Game. Abhijith K S, Justin Jayaraj, Vishnu, and Ashna.S clinched 2nd place in the Operations Game while Aswin Pradeep and Izaaz Hassan of the same batch came 2nd in Stock Trading Game.

MUAY THAI CHAMPIONSHIP WON

Hearty Congratulations to Safwan K S! for winning gold medal 9^th Kerala State Senior Muay Thai Championship 2023 held on 10^th & 11^th August 2024 in the elite weight category. His pervious wins in both kick boxing & Muay Thai are nothing short of legendary, we wish him the very best for his future endeavours & hope he reaches great heights.

MERITORIOUS STUDENTS AWARDED

Ms. Swathi Sasidharan (MBA 2022-24 batch) received the Dr. Ramesh Babu S Memorial Award for Best Outgoing MBA student, presented by the 80's SMS Alumni Association. The event was graced by Federal Bank MD Mr. Shyam Srinivasan and CUSAT Vice Chancellor Prof. P G Sankaran. Also, Ms. Anjana O, Ms. Sandra Sarasan, and Ms. Asmin Sara won the PTA Merit Award for best MBA summer projects of 2024.

WINNERS IN INTER-COLLEGIATE DEBATE COMPETITION

Bejoy Jayarson & Prithviraj Ranjith (MBA FT 2023-25) bagged 3rd Place(as a team) & Best Speaker (Male) (shared) at 47th Mother Digna Inter-collegiate Debate Competition conducted by St. Teresa's College (Autonomous), Ernakulam.

STUDENTS CLEAR UGC NET

A Total of Eleven students cleared NET from MBA FT 2022-24 and 2021-24 Evening Batch. Devadarshan from MBA Full Time 2022-24 Batch cleared JRF in his first attempt.

FINANCE GAME WON AT  NATIONAL LEVEL MANAGEMENT FEST

Kiran Lal HA, Rahul Thomas, Sreerag Sasidharan,  & Vighnesh C V of MBA FT batch 22-24 have secured First prize in the Finance game at jemce24, National level Management Fest held at Dr. John Matthai Center,Calicut University Regional Campus, Thrissur. 

SOUTH ZONE YOUTH FESTIVAL WINNERS

The Inter-University South Zone Youth Festival 2023–24, which took place at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam for 11 days, included three winners from MBA Batch 23-25 of SMS, CUSAT. Nada Ayisha took home the second place in debate and the fourth place in elocution. Sreepriya K won fourth place in the classical instrumental solo percussion competition and second place in the folk orchestra. Nikhil U and group finished fifth in the mime competition.

MARKSPIRE MANAGEMENT FEST

Team SMS clenched an admirable victory at the ‘Markspire’ Management Fest hosted by Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth University.  Prithviraj Ranjith and KM Mohammed Irfan secured the First Prize in the stock trading competition (Stock Sensei). Izaaz Hassan and Fathim Rubiya bagged the Second Prize. The icing on the cake was Sanjai K Rajan’s First Prize in the debate event (Conscience Clash).  Thank you for making SMS proud.

DR. RAMESH BABU MEMORIAL BEST STUDENT AWARD 2023

The prestigious Dr. Ramesh Babu Memorial Award for the Best Outgoing Student of the MBA Full-Time Batch for the year 2023 was presented to Mr. Rahul R. S. during the SMS 80 Foundation celebration. The SMS 80 foundation has been established in loving memory of Dr. Ramesh Babu- an illustrious alumnus whose contributions to the upliftment of institution has been phenomenal. The award was presented to Rahul by Smt. Geetha Ramesh Babu, wife of Dr. Ramesh Babu at a glittering function organised by the batch of 1980.

The School of Management has consistently shown its sporting prowess, and the recent days

were no exception. We are proud of our talented students who have qualified in various events at university level. Syam Chandran (MBA 2022-24) excelled in Kho-Kho, while Jeen Joseph (MBA 2023-25) showcased remarkable skills in Badminton. Abhijith (MBA 2023-25) secured his

place in Handball, and Safwan (MBA 2022-24) will be representing the university in Boxing. Avani

Vinod (MBA 2023-25) will be dribbling her way through the Basketball court. Congratulations to these

outstanding athletes!

Best Paper Award at WINGS 2023

Rose E G (MBA Batch 2022-24) proudly received the 'Best Conference Paper

Saintgits College of Engineering in Kottayam. Her outstanding presentation skills and research

efforts were recognized, making her the recipient of this esteemed award.

SMS becomes the overall Champions in QUEST 2023 The Management fest conducted by Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship(XIME), Kochi. The teams returned home victorious in the HR Game, Operations Game and  Table Tennis contest as well.

Vinayak S and Asif Saidh of MBA Batch 2022-24 proved their Carbon Neutrality Quotient by bagging the First prize in the Quiz competition conducted Kerala Forest Department , Social Forestry Division on International Day for Forest and Wildlife.

The team from SMS dazzled in the game of wits at the KMA Business Quiz event, winning both First prize and Second Prize in the Business Quiz competition.

National Level Inter-university English Debate competition

Faheema Amina of MBA Batch 2022-24 proved her gift of the gab winning First Prize in the National Level Inter-university English Debate competition and doubling it up with a 3rd prize in English elocution at the same event

Sanjay Raj N of SMS batch 2022-24 emerged winner at a nail biting final to claim the First prize in Table tennis competition at QUEST 2023 conducted by Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME).

Nominees compete against their peers from around the world in a series of local and national competitions in hopes to qualify for the GSEA Global Finals. GSEA supports student entrepreneurs who require much-needed mentorship, recognition, and connections to take their businesses to the next level of success.

Rhishavdas K, SMS MBA FT student along with his 6 friends bagged the second prize for GSEA Kerala Chapter. He is a Mechanical Engineer and student entrepreneur, during the pandemic along with 6 engineering friends started his venture Kapreign Pvt Ltd. A bootstrapped company focused on retail software development.

“When I joined for MBA at SMS CUSAT, I heard about the Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards and Entrepreneur Organization, Pitching competition for student entrepreneurs. EO Kerala chapter assigned a mentor for us, and it was an enriching experience. We along with 6 members qualify for the semi-finals and bagged the second prize for GSEA Kerala Chapter. It was an amazing experience to participate in GSEA Indian Semi-finals and meet various start-ups across the country” , said Rhishavdas.

Varna C Murugan wrote her name into the history books of SMS by bagging the individual champion award at Kurukshetra, intercollegiate sports. She scored first in 100-meter Athletics, 4×100-meter relay, and badminton to bag this prestige award. Also, she was women's Champion in intercollegiate badminton.

In Astra, the college-level sports meet also, she bagged first in 100-meter Athletics, 4×100-meter relay, and badminton. She also Participated in the inter-university Badminton south zone all-India tournament held at Guntur. She was epic both in track and court, a made a splendid visual treat for all the sports lovers.

Students of SMS CUSAT, Sreejil B.Nair, Sheljo C.J. and Aivin Jose secured 3rd prize in the 'Best Business Plan Event Udaan 1.0' organized by SOMS, NIT CALICUT as part of their management fest 'Tarang 2022'. By virtue of their stellar performance, they have achieved direct entry into the 'Innovation Grant Competition' conducted by Kerala Startup Mission(KSUM).

Students of SMS CUSAT, Sreejil B.Nair, V Swati Sasidharan and Sheljo C. J. secured first prize in the 'National Level Best Startup Business Plan Event' held at SB College Changanassery in November 2022.

There were two knock-off rounds in the event for which 21 teams had registered namely an Abstract submission round and a Business Plan submission round. The SMS team came first among the 5 finalists who participated in the final Presentation round.
